Arnab Goswami’s interim bail plea rejected by Bombay High Court
Nov. 9: The Bombay High Court on Monday has rejected the interim bail plea of Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami. A division bench of the Bombay High Court comprising Justice SS Shinde and MS Karnik held that the rejection of the interim bail plea will not be construed as an impediment to Arnab seeking alternative remedies.
The bench also advised the petitioners to approach the sessions court where the concerned court will decide it within the specified time limit. The interim bail applications of other co-accused Nitish Sharda and Parveen Rajesh Singh have also been dismissed, citing the same reasons.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari spoke to state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and conveyed to him his concern over Arnab’s security and health. He also asked Deshmukh to allow Arnab’s family to meet him in jail.
Goswami is one of three accused in the case of abetment of suicide of an interior designer, Anvay Naik, and his mother, Kumud. In a suicide note, Naik had accused Goswami, Shaikh and Sarda of non-payment of dues amounting to Rs 5.4 crore, because of which, Naik wrote, he was being forced to take such a step. Goswami and two others were arrested by Alibaug police on November 4.
