Assam govt signs MoU with Flybig Airlines to operate between Gau-Sil with fixed fare of ₹3000

May 18: In a welcome note for the travelers, Assam Government on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ‘Flybig Airlines’. As per the MoU, the Airline will operate between Guwahati and Silchar with a fixed airfare of Rs 3000 for 10 days from Friday. This was informed by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

The communication between Barak valley with rest of the state and country has got affected due to recent flood and massive landslide caused by heavy rainfall in the last few days. The railway route connecting Lumding with Badarpur in barak Valley is completely disrupted as heavy rainfall in Dima Hasao has uprooted tracks and bridges causing massive damage to railway infrastructure.

Due to the increase in demand, the fare of air tickets of commercial airlines have substantially increased and it is becoming a hardship for general public to bear such increased air fare cost. Considering the great hardship being faced by the general public due to sudden spike of air fare, Government of Assam has decided to operate emergency flight service between Silchar and Guwahati at subsidised rate of Rs. 3,000 through Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC). As approved by the Cabinet, ATDC signed a MoU in this regard with FlyBig, which is already providing regional connectivity in Assam and Northeast States.

Tickets will be available at special counter at DC Office, Cachar and ATDC’s head office at Paltan Bazar, Guwahati. Tickets can be booked through calling at mobile number- 8135902973 and 8638023921. Payment can be made through UPI/Google pay on 8135902973. This flight service will be available from 19 May, 2022 for 10 days. The flight from Guwahati to Silchar will take off at 5 PM, whereas, it will fly for Guwahati from Silchar at 6.20 PM.
