Stellar performance: BJP & allies registers landslide victory in the Assam Municipal Polls

BJP and its ally AGP registered victory in a total of 807 wards out of 977 wards.

March 9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a landslide victory in the Assam Municipal Polls, 2022. BJP has won 742 wards out of a total of 977 wards. AGP, the ally of BJP won in 65 wards. That means, BJP and its ally AGP registered victory in a total of 807 wards out of 977 wards. Congress won 71 wards whereas, 99 seats were secured by other parties and independent candidates.

Elections to the 80 Municipal Wards were held on 6 March, 2022 and results were declared on 9 March, 2022. Out of the 80 Municipal Wards, BJP and AGP together registered win in 77 wards (75+02), Congress 01 Board and Independent 01 Board. It is for the first time in the history of Assam that M2 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used during the Municipal elections.

Taking to his twitter handle, Hardeep Singh Puri wrote, “Landslide victory for BJP & our allies in Assam municipal elections. Wins in 77 out of 80 Boards is a thumping approval of PM Modi Ji’s policies of inclusive development & “Act East” policy by people of Assam. Congratulations to our Karyakartas of BJP and Himanta Biswa Sarmaji.”

Taking to his twitter handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, “Gratitude to the people of Assam for blessing BJP and our allies in the recently concluded municipal elections. This shows their faith in our Party’s development agenda. I applaud our hardworking Karyakartas for their efforts and service among people.”
