Security beefed up in Cachar; Executive Magistrates deputed in view of 74th independence Day

August 14: In view of the 74th Independence Day celebration at Silchar on Saturday, the Cachar district administration has beefed up security in Silchar and other parts of the district. The administration has deputed Executive Magistrates to look after specific areas. In an order issued to this effect on Friday, the administration has deputed Executive Magistrate cum Circle Officer, Sadar, D.Pathak to look after DSA ground including seating arrangement and reception and PS areas.

Sudeep Nath, Circle Officer, Sonai cum Executive Magistrate will look after Sonai, Kachudaram and Dholai police station areas. Pranjit Deb, Circle Officer, Katigorah cum Executive Magistrate will look after Katigorah police station areas. Jayanta Chakrabarty, Circle Officer, Udharbond cum Executive Magistrate will look after Udharbond police station areas. Deepmoy Thakuria, Assistant Commissioner cum Executive Magistrate will look after DSA Ground areas. He will remain present at 4.30 pm at DSA Ground at the time of retreat of the national flag.

“The Magistrates will take appropriate steps as they deem fit and proper to deal with the situation and they will report directly to the District Magistrate from time to time about the law and order situation of their respective areas from 14th August ,” the order stated.

Meanwhile, the district administration will felicitate freedom fighters namely Mohesh Narayan Das, Arati Das and Surendra Sinha at their respective houses on the occasion of Independence Day. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lalita Rongpipi will felicitate the freedom fighters on behalf of the administration. Namita Bhattacharjee, widow of artist Ranadhir Bhattacharjee has been selected for one time special assistance to families of deceased artists @ Rs 50,000 for the year 2020-2021.

Artists Nilmani Singha and Shri Sukkur Ali Mazumdar have been selected for one time financial grant (ex-gratia) @ Rs.50,000 each for their distinguished contribution in the field of art and culture for the year 2020-2021.
Litterateur Samar Bijoy Chakraborty has been selected for Literary Pension for 2020-2021 and Senior journalist Shri Madan Singhal has been selected for journalist pension.
