NFR Organizes Food Distribution, Passenger Assistance During Ambubachi Mela

way2barak, 25th June : In a continued effort to support the large number of devotees visiting Kamakhya Temple during the annual Ambubachi Mela, the Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (NFRWWO), under the leadership of its President, Smt. Shalini Shrivastava, organized a food distribution programme at Kamakhya Railway Station.
The initiative was undertaken to provide comfort and assistance to pilgrims arriving from different parts of the country for the sacred festival. Through this humanitarian effort, NFRWWO reaffirmed its commitment towards the welfare and well-being of passengers and devotees, serving them with dedication during one of the region’s most significant religious gatherings.
In addition, as part of the dedicated passenger assistance arrangements during the Ambubachi Mela, members of the N. F. Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides have been deployed at major railway stations across the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. The volunteers are actively assisting passengers through crowd management, guidance and information support, thereby helping ensure a safer, smoother and more comfortable travel experience for thousands of pilgrims and passengers.
Further strengthening the support measures, the Commercial Department of Northeast Frontier Railway also organized a food distribution programme at Guwahati Railway Station for devotees travelling to Kamakhya Temple. The initiative was aimed at providing refreshments and assistance to pilgrims during their journey.
To cater to the anticipated rush of pilgrims, N. F. Railway is also operating several special unreserved train services, connecting Kamakhya with important destinations across Assam and North Bengal. In addition, various regular passenger trains have also been temporarily augmented to enhance carrying capacity and facilitate smooth travel for devotees during the Ambubachi Mela period.
Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to ensuring safe, convenient and passenger-friendly services during the Ambubachi Mela through coordinated efforts involving various departments, organizations and volunteers.
