‘Khelar Samay’ Remembers Late Sports Journalist Sanjay Roy with a special issue of Magazine

way2barak, 3rd April : Silchar paid a heartfelt tribute to late sports journalist Sanjay Roy on the occasion of his 57th birth anniversary, as ‘Khelar Samay’ magazine group organized a commemorative event at the Artificial Turf of Silchar Football Academy.

 

Marking the occasion, a special edition of ‘Khelar Samay’ magazine was officially unveiled in the presence of several prominent figures from the district’s sports and media fraternity. Among those present were President of Silchar District Sports Association Shibabrata Dutta, Secretary of Silchar Town Club Bikash Das, Editor of ‘Khelar Samay’ Taz Uddin, Silchar Football Academy official Bacchu Das, sports journalists Dwijendralal Das and Bikash Deb,  journalist Uttam Kumar Saha and Aminul Haque Mazumdar, Ikbal Bahar Laskar among others. Roy’s wife Sanghita Roy and their younger daughter were also present at the programme.

 

Following the unveiling ceremony, speakers reflected on various aspects of Sanjay Roy’s professional journey and personal qualities. Shibrata Dutta described Roy as a writer of great depth and a remarkable human being. Bikash Das highlighted the uniqueness of Roy’s writing style, noting that his clarity and simplicity made even complex sporting events easily understandable for readers.

Aminul Haque Mazumdar recalled working alongside Roy for many years, emphasizing the rare harmony between his professionalism and personal conduct. Uttam Kumar Saha expressed deep sorrow, stating that remembering Roy’s untimely demise on his birth anniversary was especially painful. Dwijendralal Das shared an emotional note, mentioning that he now uses the same computer Roy once worked on in the Bartalipi newsroom—a constant reminder of his late colleague.
