Dholai Co- District Admin gears up for Khel Maharan 3.0

way2barak, October 27:– The Dholai Co-District Administration has stepped up preparations for Khel Maharan 3.0 bringing Block officials, Gram Panchayat Secretaries and representatives of various line departments together to coordinate the conduct of sporting events at the grassroots level.

A coordination meeting held at the office of the Co-District Commissioner (CDC), Dholai on Monday was chaired by Assistant Commissioners Masi Topno and Diksha Sarkar. The meeting focused on effective planning, interdepartmental coordination and the smooth implementation of the sporting initiative across Gram Panchayat and Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) levels in the co-district.

The officials discussed the arrangements required to encourage wider participation and ensure that local level functionaries and line departments work together for the successful conduct of the competitions. With grassroots-level events forming the foundation of the programme, effective coordination at the Block and Gram Panchayat levels will be crucial to reaching aspiring sportspersons across the co-district.

It is important to note that the Assam Govt is preparing for the third edition of Khel Maharan, incorporating Sishu Krida Samaroh with a renewed focus on expanding grassroots sports participation, identifying young talent at an early stage and creating opportunities for the systematic development of budding sportspersons.

The competitions will cover eight disciplines athletics, yogasana, chess, boxing, aquathlon, football, volleyball and swimming. Depending on the discipline, participants will have opportunities to progress from Gaon Panchayat, Urban Local Body, municipal ward and other designated local level competitions to LAC, district, zonal and state-level events.

The grassroots level competitions are scheduled from November 7 to 20, followed by LAC level events from December 1 to 15. District level competitions will be held from December 26, 2026, to January 2, 2027. The state level competitions are scheduled for February 4–10, 2027, while zonal-level swimming competitions will take place from January 28 to February 1.

A key feature of this edition is the introduction of Sishu Krida Samaroh under which 500 promising players will be identified across 14 disciplines through a structured talent scouting process. The selected players will receive scholarships for two years to support their training, sports equipment, nutrition and participation in competitions.

The initiative will also involve technical collaboration with JSW Sports for talent identification and assessment. Scientific fitness assessment equipment is proposed to be introduced to help build a database of young athletes and support the planning of their future training and development.

To facilitate participation and streamline the registration process, a dedicated online portal and mobile application with a name” khel Maharan 3.0″ has been developed, which can be easily downloaded in Playstore in mobiles. Participants are also requested to register at https:/khelmaharan.com/khel.

The system will record essential participant details, including age and date of birth and generate unique registration IDs and printable registration cards. The resulting database is expected to help identify potential athletes for future training and provide a useful foundation for sports development in the state.

The initiative is expected to bring sporting activities closer to communities while creating a pathway for talented players to advance to higher levels of competition.

This is stated in a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, Assam.
