DC Cachar chairs SM DEV Civil Hospital’s executive meeting

Aug 19 : The Executive Committee meeting of SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar was held on Tuesday at SM Dev Civil Hospital (SMDCH) under the chairmanship of Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli. A range of new decisions have been taken after a threadbare discussion to improve the service of the hospital including proposal under ECRP -II.

As per the discussion, four new specialist departments viz. Surgery, Orthopaedic, Opthalmology & Psychiatry are to be started within this August. Specialist doctors have been appointed for the department under National Health Mission. Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli, while conversing with the media stated, “Physiotherapy Clinic will be there throughout the week with trained Physiotherapist. The X – Ray & CT Scan services will be available on 24X7 basis and USG services will be available during OPD hours and on emergency basis.” It was also assured that the New Born Stabilization Unit (NBSU) will be strengthened with installation of 2 new Radiant Warmers to improve the services of new born care. Along with that, the services of Dental Clinic will also be improved with Dental X-ray facility, which is not available in any government hospital except SMCH.

Moreover, the internal roads of the hospital have also been asked to be improved by the PWD department and new transformer will be installed by APDCL to meet the increased load of electricity for the hospital. Dedicated beds have been kept in reserve for admission of high risk pregnant mothers at any point of time. It is to be noted here that since the last one month, the night C-section cases have gradually increased at the hospital for which the Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics Care has been improved at hospital as O&G & Anesthesia doctors are made to be available 24/7 a day. It is seen that PPIUCD figures are almost 30% of total delivery; which denotes that Nursing staff of SMDCH are counseling mothers in right way to adopt proper family planning measures.

During the meeting, DC Cachar confirmed that the gaps identified during internal assessment under Kayakalp & NQAS will be corrected within next month.
