Cash worth Rs.49,98,000 recovered at Lumding Railway Station, 2 women arrested

May 3: In a sensational incident, two women traveling by 15665 UP Dimapur BG Express train were detained by Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday night on charges of carrying along with them huge amount of unaccounted cash. As per reports, GRP during the routine search seized cash amounting to Rs.49,98,000 from 2 ladies passengers.

The two women from whose possession the cash was seized were identified as Gayatri Halder (60) wife of  Mohan Halder and Arati Halder (55) wife of Jantu Halder. Both of them are residents of Fasitola village of Cooch Behar in West Bengal. A case vide Lumding GRPS case no 15/19 u/s 379 IPC was registered against them. During interrogation, they revealed that they were bringing the money from Cooch Behar to Bokajan.

Both the ladies were produced in the court on Friday. Meanwhile, police are carrying on their investigation to ascertain the source of this huge amount of cash recovered.
