Cachar district administration reviews disaster preparedness for flood

way2barak, April 28 :— In a proactive move to strengthen disaster preparedness ahead of the monsoon season, Cachar District Commissioner, Aayush Garg, IAS convened a review meeting to assess the readiness of various line departments along with representatives from central agencies at the new conference hall of DC’S office here on tuesday.
The meeting was aimed at evaluating the level of preparedness in light of earlier discussions and ensuring a coordinated response mechanism to tackle any emergent situation.
During the review, detailed deliberations were held on preparedness measures, particularly focusing on vulnerable villages prone to flash floods. The District Commissioner directed all concerned line departments to undertake necessary preparatory steps for timely and efficient relief distribution. In the meeting, emphasis was placed on evolving a structured and dedicated methodology to ensure that relief operations can be carried out swiftly and effectively minimizing hardship for affected residents.
Further strengthening the preparedness process, the Silchar Municipal Corporation was also instructed to develop comprehensive ward-wise action plans. These plans are intended to facilitate prompt response and mitigation in case of any untoward incidents arising from sudden flooding within urban areas.
The review meeting was also attended by the Additional District Commissioner, Monojyoti Kutum, Additional District Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, District Diaster Management Authority, Devid Kumar Bora, Chief Executive Officer of Cachar Zilla Parishad, Dorothy Suchaiang, Circle officers , DDIPR Barak valley Zone Silchar, Lucky Biswas,DPM ,DDMA, Shamim Ahmed Laskar and the officials of the line departments.
