Cachar Administration organises painting programme to promote voter participation

way2barak, April 4:—- In continuation of its sustained efforts to enhance voter awareness and participation in the forthcoming Assembly Elections 2026, the District Administration, Cachar, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, organised a day long Painting Programme at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here on Saturday.

The programme, conducted from 9:00 AM onwards, featured a series of engaging activities including Face Painting, Poster Painting and Live Painting, aimed at sensitising citizens on the importance of exercising their franchise. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from artists, students and individuals from diverse backgrounds, reflecting a growing public interest in electoral awareness initiatives.

District Election Officer and District Commissioner for Cachar, Aayush Garg,IAS along with Additional District Commissioner, Jagriti Kalwar, ACS who is also the Nodal Officer of SVEEP Cell for Assembly Elections 2026 in Cachar, visited the programme venue, interacted with the participants and appreciated their creative contributions towards promoting voter awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Smt. Jagriti Kalwar stated that the SVEEP campaign in the district is being implemented through a series of structured awareness programmes covering rural areas as well as educational institutions. She highlighted that activities such as painting competitions serve as effective tools to engage the community creatively while disseminating the message of informed and ethical voting.

She further added that the participation of youth and young students in such initiatives is encouraging, as it fosters a sense of responsibility and awareness about the democratic process from an early age. Emphasising the broader objective, she stated that the SVEEP programme aims to build an informed, aware and responsible electorate in the district.

Later, as a part of the programme, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the 47 participants by the District Election Officer and the Additional District Commissioner in recognition of their active involvement.
