30 March: With the Assembly elections drawing closer, BJP candidate Amiya Kanti Das has intensified his campaign across the Dholai constituency, placing strong emphasis on direct public engagement and sustained grassroots outreach. His approach, marked by continuous interaction with voters and a visible presence in rural pockets, is steadily shaping his image as a serious contender in the upcoming electoral contest.

On Monday, Das undertook an extensive day-long campaign, travelling across multiple gram panchayat areas and covering a wide stretch of the constituency. Beginning early in the morning and continuing till late in the evening, he visited villages including Moniyar Khal, Dharmikhal, Channighat, Jeevan Gram, Dakshin Narsingpur, Darbi and Dwarbond. At each location, he engaged in door-to-door visits, meeting families personally and listening to their concerns at close quarters.

The campaign saw significant public participation, with residents gathering in large numbers during his visits. Apart from informal interactions, several small meetings were held where villagers shared their local issues, ranging from infrastructure gaps to livelihood concerns. Das was seen patiently hearing people out and responding to their queries, which added a sense of accessibility to his outreach.

In a moment that stood out during the day, Das visited Jamalpar village where he met Niranjan Hajam, popularly known as Mumu, whose house had been recently damaged in a fire incident. Spending time with the affected family, he assured them of support and extended a promise of all possible assistance. The gesture was noticed by locals and added a humane dimension to his campaign, reinforcing his attempt to connect on a personal level beyond political messaging.

Later in the day, Das participated in a large “Vijay Sankalp Rally” held at Moniarkhal Tea Garden under Palonghat Mandal. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers and supporters, creating a charged atmosphere. Minister Kaushik Rai attended the event as a guest, lending further momentum to the gathering and boosting the morale of party cadres ahead of the polls.

Throughout his campaign stops, Das maintained a consistent focus on development-oriented issues. In his addresses, he spoke about the need to improve road connectivity, enhance employment opportunities, and strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the constituency. He also emphasised the importance of better educational facilities, stating that long-term progress depends on sustained investment in these sectors.

Highlighting welfare measures, Das referred to various schemes introduced by both the central and state governments, asserting that these initiatives have already benefited many households in the region. He expressed confidence that such schemes would continue to reach more people if his party returns to power.

A notable part of his campaign messaging was directed towards youth and women. He underlined the need for skill development programmes, job creation initiatives and support for small-scale entrepreneurship to empower young people. At the same time, he stressed the importance of expanding opportunities for women through better access to financial resources, education and self-employment avenues.

With a campaign that blends organisational strength with consistent on-ground activity, Das appears to be building a strong connect with voters in Dholai. His steady pace, combined with visible public engagement and focus on local concerns, is gradually consolidating his position in the constituency.

Political observers note that such sustained outreach efforts, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, are likely to play a crucial role as the elections approach. As the contest intensifies, Amiya Kanti Das is increasingly being seen as a key player in the Dholai race, with his campaign gaining momentum day by day.
