CCTV surveillance at the strong room: Clarification from District Election Officer

way2barak, October 6: A video circulating on social media claims that CCTV surveillance at the strong room at ISTT, has failed. District Election Officer cum Returning Officer has given a clarification that “This is incorrect.”
He writes, “On 6th october 2026 at around 2:30a.m, a changeover in the power supply to the UPS caused 5 CCTV cameras to restart briefly. They automatically resumed recording within approximately 3–4 minutes briefly.During this time, the area remained under continuous recording by 51 other CCTV cameras covering the entire premises at ISTT, and no portion of the premises was left unmonitored.”
According to DEO, “The strong room remains sealed under the seals of candidates and guarded round the clock by police. No breach or untoward incident has occurred, and the security and integrity of the election process remain fully intact. Candidates or their authorised agents may view the CCTV footage on request at ISTT.”
