Hole in common man’s pocket again! APDCL hikes tariff by 79 paise per unit

way2barak, Nov.25: It’s another blow to the common men of Assam. This time Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) announced Rs 0.79 per unit hike in power tariffs in the state. However, the hiked rates will remain effective for three month duration from December to February.

An official of the APDCL stated, “Any adjustment regarding short/excess recovery due to seasonal variation of consumption within the stipulated period will be adjusted in subsequent periods or as may be directed by AERC.”

The additional Rs 0.79 per unit hike in electricity bill has been vehemently criticised by several organisations and parties including the Congress.
