24 tests +ve in Cachar on Wednesday, tally reaches 10,950

Active cases 155 in Cachar

Dec. 2: On Wednesday, a total of 24 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1709 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 21 persons were found positive, whereas 03 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Wednesday night.

With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,950. Further, a total of 10,758 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 37 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 155 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 31 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, Throat swab of another 443 persons were collected. 746 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 08 tested positive. Further, 547 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 06 were found positive.

Apart from this, 05 new patient of COVID-19 was admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours but none were discharged. At present, there are 22 active patients at SMCH, out of which 05 are critical. The patients who are at present in critical condition are: Fulerun Nessa, Sukla Dastidar, Mina Rani Devi, Renu Mal and Priyo Kr Singha. A total of 11 patients are admitted in ICU, whereas 08 of them are put under oxygen support and 03 of them are kept in ventilator support.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 173 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 173 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
