Cachar admin invites tenders for confidential printing of ballot papers for Silchar civic polls

way2barak,September 3:-– The Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar has invited sealed tenders from duly registered printing presses for the confidential printing and supply of ballot papers for the Silchar Municipal Corporation Election, 2026.

The tender notice issued by the T&D Branch (Municipal Election) of the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar on September 3 specifies that only printing presses duly registered under the Printing & Stationery Department, Government of Assam and having adequate printing machinery, manpower, infrastructure and the required experience or capacity for confidential election printing will be eligible to participate.

The selected printing press will have to print the ballot papers strictly according to the approved specimen and instructions of the District Commissioner and the specifications prescribed by the Assam State Election Commission.

A key requirement of the tender is that the ballot papers will have to be printed in Bengali script. The names of all contesting candidates must appear strictly in the same order as given in the approved List of Contesting Candidates (Form-10).

Besides printing, the selected press will be responsible for numbering or machine numbering of the ballot papers and their corresponding counterfoils. The work will also include perforation, cutting, sorting, counting, packing and delivery of the ballot papers as directed by the election authority.

The printing agency will further be required to prepare and keep master copies and proofs in safe custody as instructed by the Election Authority and undertake any other work connected with the confidential printing and delivery of the ballot papers.

The tender notice lays down specific technical requirements for the ballot papers. They must conform strictly to Rule 58 of the Assam Municipal Corporation Election Rules, 2022. The paper has to be white in colour and of a minimum 70 GSM, while a counterfoil must be attached to the top of every ballot paper.

The requirement for printing the candidates’ names in the exact order appearing in Form-10 is also intended to ensure that the printed ballot papers correspond precisely with the officially approved list of contesting candidates.

The administration has invited the tender with a non-refundable court fee stamp of Rs. 8.25 affixed to the tender document. The work will be carried out in accordance with the terms and conditions prescribed by the Assam State Election Commission and the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar.
