ওয়েটুবরাক, ১৯ মার্চ: বরাক উপত্যকা ক্রীড়া সাংবাদিক সংস্থার (বাকস) চতুর্দশ মিডিয়া ক্রিকেট ফেস্টের সেমিফাইনাল লাইন-আপ চূড়ান্ত হয়ে গেল। আজ সতীন্দ্রমোহন দেব মেমোরিয়াল স্টেডিয়ামে শেষ লিগ ম্যাচে নববার্তা মিডিয়া ওয়ারিয়র্স ৬ উইকেটে হারায় বরাক বুলেটিন মিডিয়া চ্যালেঞ্জার্সকে। সেই সুবাদে চতুর্থ দল হিসেবে তারা সেমিফাইনালে জায়গা করে নেয়। অবশ্য বরাক বুলেটিন আগেই শেষ চারে জায়গা করে নিয়েছিল। নববার্তার অগ্রগতির সাথে সাথে ডনবস্কো প্রেস ফাইটার্সের বিদায় নিশ্চিত হয়ে গেল।
আজ শিলচরের সতীন্দ্রমোহন দেব মেমোরিয়াল স্টেডিয়ামে ব্যাটিং নিয়ে ঝড়ো সূচনা করে বরাক বুলেটিন। ৮ ওভারে ৬৮ রান করে ফেলে তারা। এরপর থেকে রানের গতি কমতে থাকে। তবে শেষ ওভারে অভিজিৎ পালের ওপর চড়াও হয়ে ২১ রান আদায় করে নেন মনোজ রায়। বরাক বুলেটিনের স্কোর দাঁড়ায় ১৫ ওভারে ৬ উইকেটে ১১৫ রান। মনোজ অপরাজিত ২৮, সত্যজিৎ শুক্লবৈদ্য ২৪, প্রীতম দাস ২১ এবং অনির্বাণ রায়চৌধুরী ১২ রান করেন। অতিরিক্ত ২৩। নববার্তার মুহিতুর রহমান ১১ রানে ৩ উইকেট নেন। দেবব্রত দেব দু’টি এবং মলয় কান্তি শুক্লবৈদ্য (পিন্টু) এক উইকেট পান।

Silchar : Nababarta Media Warriors sealed their place in the semifinals of the 14th Media Cricket Fest, organized by the Barak Valley Sports Journalists Association (BUKSS), as the fourth qualifying team with a convincing 6-wicket victory over Barak Bulletin Media Challengers at the Satindra Mohan Dev Memorial Stadium on Thursday. Barak Bulletin had already secured their semifinal berth before this match, but Nababarta’s win confirmed their progression while Don Bosco Press Fighters were knocked out of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Media Challengers opted to bat first. They got off to a steady start before losing Anirban Roy Choudhury for 12 runs at 24 in the third over. Pritam Das (21) and Satyajit Shuklabaidya (24) kept the innings moving, while Manoj Roy provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 28, including a 21-run final over. Barak Bulletin posted a competitive 115 for 6 in 15 overs. For Nababarta, Muhitur Rahman was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 11. Debabrata Deb picked up two wickets, while Pintu Shukla Baidya claimed one.
In reply, Nababarta suffered an early setback, losing two wikcket in very first over and four wickets within 40 runs. However, a brilliant unbeaten 76-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Debabrata Deb (29*) and Humayun Kabir Jasim (53*) turned the game around. Jasim played a match-winning knock, smashing four sixes and five fours in his 26-ball innings. Pintu Suklabaidya (13) and Abhijit Paul (12) also contributed as Nababarta chased down the target in 14.1 overs, finishing at 116 for 4.
Ajit Das was the pick of the bowlers for the Media Challengers with three wickets. Humayun Kabir Jasim was named Man of the Match and also won the Super Sixer award, while Debabrata was adjudged Super Entertainer. Manoj Das was named MVP of the match. Former BUKSS secretary and spokesperson Taz Uddin informed that the semifinals will be held on Friday. In the first semifinal, Barak Bulletin will take on Rubika Khobor Heroes, while Nababarta will face Paramount News Rockers in the second semifinal.
