Commemoration of Child Protection Day, 2021 to be held in Hailakandi
Feb.11: The Assam State Commssion for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) held a meeting with the district administration with an objective to discuss about the forthcoming Child Protection Day on March 4. Presiding over the meeting held at the DC’s conference hall here on Wednesday, Member of the Commission, Ajoy Kumar Dutta stated that Assam is the first state in the country to have officially declared the Child Protection Day which is held on the foundation day of the Commission. “Like every year, this year, too, the Commission will be commemorating the Child Protection Day and the Establishment Day of the Commission on March 4, 2021. And this year the event will be organised in Hailakandi district,” he added.
Dutta disclosed that Hailakandi, Cachar, Karimganj, Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Hojai and Nagaon districts would participate in the event. There shall be 10 numbers of children accompanied by two numbers of teachers, a security personnel and health expert from the Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Hojai and Nagaon districts with 300 numbers of students from Hailakandi, Cachar and Karimganj districts making a total of 360 numbers of students and teachers.
He further asked the District Development Commissioner and other senior officials of the administration to provide logistical and administrative support in terms of arrangement of security and safety of the children, selection of a safe venue for the event, arrangement of health facility, sufficient provision of sanitation etc.
District Development Commissioner, Ranajeet Kumar Laskar expressed his sincere thanks to the Commission for selecting Hailakandi district as the venue of the important and relevant event targeted towards recognising the rights of the children. Laskar exuded optimism that children would be largely benefitted from the event and it would go a long way in disseminating the important message about child rights among the children and the masses. The District Development Commissioner assured the Member of the Commission to extend all the required logistical support from the administration in organising the event in a befitting manner.
The meeting was attended by officials of all line departments, including the District Child Protection Unit.
On Tuesday, the visiting Member of the Commission also reviewed the recent incident of bomb blast in a school in the district and assured that the Commission would take up the matter with the government to institute a high level inquiry to bring to book the perpetrators behind the dastardly act.
