There are 22 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College

Jan. 10: There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 9 January to 5 PM on 10 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening.

Subir Chakraborty (69) from Das Colony, Silchar was referred from Green Heals Hospital to SMCH at 5.45 PM on 9 January, 2022 in an unconscious state. He was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney  disease and history of fall. The patient was immediately admitted in Covid ICU at SMCH. The patient, however, died at 11.35 AM on 10 January, 2022.

Prior to this, two patients Maya Rani Kurmi (63) died at SMCH and Mira Chowdhury (84) died at Green Heals Hospital due to Covid-19 on 7 January, 2022.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 10 January, there were 22 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 01 patient was put under ventilator support, and 05 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 06 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 14 were discharged. Further, 18 patients were shifted to Covid Care Centre.
