Press Club Karimganj Strikers wins BUKSS Media Cricket Fest 2021

Jan. 24: The IXth edition of Barak Upottaka Krira Sangbadik Sangstha (BUKSS) Media Cricket Fest, 2021 was won by Press Club Karimganj Strikers. In an exciting finish, Hailakandi Media Challengers were defeated by 19 runs at DSA, Silchar by Karimganj Strikers. Rahul Das bagged the man of the match award.

In their stipulated 20 overs, Press Club Karimganj Strikers scored 193 at the loss of 4 wickets. Rahul Das alone scored 95 runs in only 62 balls. His innings was a feast for the eyes. He reached the score of 95 runs with the help of 13 boundaries and 1 over boundary. The 2nd highest run scorer of Karimganj was Humayun Kabir Jasim, who scored a good knock of 42 runs in 38 deliveries. Ashok Uddin Barbhuiya, Nirmal Sinha and Monodeep Malakar of Hailakandi took 1 wicket each.

In return, the Media Challengers of Hailakandi started on a positive note. However, they failed to have the last smile. They could only score 174 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. The Karimganj strikers won the match by 19 runs. Monodeep Malakar scored a brilliant knock of 66 runs in just 41 balls. HK Jashim took 3 wickets, Abjijit Paul seized 2 wickets, whereas Rahul Das and Souvik Dutta bagged 1 wicket each.

Present during the prize distribution ceremony were BL Meena, Superintendent of Police Cachar, Chairman of JOOKTO Foundation Subimal Bhattacharjee & Dr. Joyeeta Bhattacharjee, President of DSA Silchar Babul Hore, President of DSA Karimganj Amalesh Choudhury and many other dignitaries including all officials of BUKSS. They along with others handed over the man of the match award to Rahul Das, Man of the tournament to Anirban Roy Choudhury. The awards of best batsman and best bowler were bagged by Rahul and Jasim respectively. Manodip Malakar got the award of best wicket keeper.
