Celebration of Culture, Creativity and Community of Assam in Four- Day Paper Pulp Art Workshop in U.P

Way2barak, April 18 : The closing of the Paper Pulp Art Workshop marked the end of a four-day event during which meticulously crafted four-foot sculptures were created using a mixture of paper pulp and bamboo. The workshop was held at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University’s Architecture and Planning Department, Tagore Marg Campus. The workshop was a great success.

Students from the Architecture Department learned in detail the process of making paper pulp and its multi-faceted applications. Throughout the workshop, the students enthusiastically created several shapes and sizes using paper pulp. They also had the opportunity to collaborate with the esteemed artist Dr. Binoy Paul to create a large sculpture titled “An Enchanting World,” which measured approximately four feet in size. The sculpture was a true masterpiece, with intricate details that left everyone in awe.

On Sunday, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ritu Gulati, acknowledged the sculpture and praised its beauty and complexity. She emphasized the importance of such artistic workshops, which help students of the Architecture Department to understand the techniques of art, presentation, and media. These workshops provide students with support from an artistic perspective in their work, which is invaluable in their future careers. The students of the Architecture Department left with a newfound appreciation for the art of paper pulp. They also gained valuable skills and knowledge that will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors.

During the workshop, artist Binoy Paul connected the symbols and culture prevalent in his homeland to the medium of bamboo to create a sculpture. He stated that the cultural influence of Assam was represented in this work, which was undoubtedly beautiful and attractive. Dr. Paul said that his work has a positive impact on the society in which he has contributed. It provides a medium for creativity, a path for ideas to be explored and shared, and an understanding of the world around us. The four-day workshop was attended by esteemed coordinators of the art workshop, Girish Pandey, Dheeraj Yadav, Ratnapriya Kant, and other teachers, as well as first, second, third, and fourth-year students of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning. The event also drew in art enthusiasts from the cities who were captivated by the stunning displays.
