DC Cachar visits relief camp set up at Borkhola, reviews basic facilities

May 15: As water levels kept rising in Borkhola area, the District Administration immediately contacted Assam Rifles and together they managed to rescue people struck in the floods since Friday night and brought them safely to relief camps where relief materials were also distributed by the district administration with the help of Assam Rifles. Many people were also brought safely to the relief camps on Saturday and Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Cachar, Keerthi Jalli on Sunday visited the Relief Camp setup for people of Borkhola and inspected the preparations done there. The relief camp was opened there at a school in Borkhola. Expressing her reaction, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar stated, “We request public to stay calm and not panic during flood situation. We request everybody for their cooperation. District Administration is working hard to ensure minimal losses. Most importantly, we request that children to not play nearby water areas especially avoiding electric lines. Maintain hygiene and take care. We are all working night and day in your service.”

DC Cachar further informed that, “Relief materials were distributed the entire night by district administration for the people affected by flood in Borkhola area.”
