Jubo Darpan to felicitate 19 women of substance with awards on International Women’s Day

March 7: The International Women’s Day is observed every year on March 8 to celebrate the women’s movement and struggle for equality. According to the United Nations Women, the theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”. This year women’s day will be celebrated in the wake of the 25th anniversary of Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which is termed by the UN Women as the “most visionary agenda for women’s rights and empowerment everywhere”.

To celebrate womanhood, along with the rest of the globe, Barak Valley is also geared up with a host of events.  Popular Print and Electronic Media, ‘Jubo Darpan’ will be celebrating ‘International Women’s Day, 2020’ by awarding 19 women of substance with awards on 8 March. The award ceremony will be held at Ellora Heritage Hall on Sunday at 6 PM. Jubo Darpan has been supported by Hotel Ellora in oranising this award ceremony. The 19 women who will be presented International Women’s Day Award, 2020 are:

• Arpita Dutta: Category- Journalist
• Purobi Choudhury- Category- Dentist
• Bijoyini Choudhury- Category- Cultural Activist, Hailakandi
• Omrita Sinha: Category- Model
• Bidhumukhi Singh: Category- Sports
• Aayushi Biswas: Category- Model
• Sunipa Chakraborty: Category- Teacher
• Dr. Ayesha Sultana: Category- Astrologer

Apart from them, 9 members of NCYS and 3 members of Jubo Darpan will also be felicitated. Chairperson of Jubo Darpan Swarnali Choudhury, its sub-editor Tarali Devi and news anchor Indrani Sengupta will be given special awards.
