Flow of essentials continue ceaselessly during lockdown in Hailakandi

April 23: Workers of 14 tea estates of Hailakandi will be allotted rice under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) for April. The Food, Civil Supplies and Corporate Affairs authorities informed that 1,378 quintals of rice for April have been allotted for distribution among the tea garden workers of 14 tea estates in the district. Blue dyed SK oil under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) from April to June have been allotted for both urban and rural areas. 1,28,830 litres of the blue dyed oil used for cooking and illumination purpose would be distributed among the beneficiaries through a network of fair price shops and through 7,086 hawkers. One litre will be allotted by fair price shops while 0.550 litre through hawkers to each beneficiary.

611 kg of fish sold out from different distribution points for door-to-door delivery through 35 retailers covering 715 families on Wednesday. 850 metric tonnes of vegetables have been delivered at the doorsteps of the people through 439 hawkers across the district. Subdivisional Agriculture Officer, Dr.AR Ahmed disclosed 2,640 metric tonnes of potato are available in cold storage and the daily requirement of vegetables per day is 135 metric tonnes. 20 metric tonnes of vegetables are imported from outside the district per day through six numbers of wholesale dealers. He informed that delivery of fruits at people’s doorstep has just begun. Dr.Ahmed further informed damage of vegetables is minimal with loss of only 31 metric tonnes since the lockdown.
