On-duty Polling staff dies in Assam during 1st phase of assembly election

March 27: In a tragic incident, an on-duty election officer died at Salkathoni polling station in the Sonari constituency of Assam in the midst of the ongoing first phase of the state Assembly polls. The officer has been identified as Tulsi Khanikar. He was appointed at 187 No polling station. As per reports, his health suddenly deteriorated after which he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Dibrugarh. The official, however, passed away on the way to hospital.
