It’s raining rewards for Neeraj Chopra; Let’s have a glance of awards given to Olympic gold medalist

Aug 8: It’s indeed a historic moment and a dream come true for India, as Neeraj Chopra won gold medal for India in Javelin Throw in Tokyo Olympics. In the finals, he covered his highest throw of 87.58m (in the second of six attempts). From the President of India to the common people, all are elated at his achievement. Moreover, it has been raining awards for gold winner Neeraj Chopra after his spectacular victory. Several state governments, organisations have come forward to announce cash and kind rewards to Neeraj and many more are on the way. Let us have a glance of the rewards been announced till now for Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra.

Haryana government has announced a cash award of Rs 6 crore apart from a Class-I category state government job. The Chief minister of Haryana also declared that Chopra will be made head of the upcoming Centre for Excellence in Athletics in Panchkula. Punjab government has announced a cash reward of Rs.2 crore. BCCI, Manipur government and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have also announced a reward of Rs 1 crore each to Neeraj. The Indian Olympic Association will reward Neeraj with Rs 75 lakh. That means, roughly, till now, Neeraj Chopra has been assured a total cash award of Rs. 11.75 crore. Meanwhile, IndiGo announced that it will offer unlimited free travel for one year to Neeraj Chopra for his outstanding achievement.
