“Work as a team to deliver timely and quality services to people,” exhorts Parimal

way2barak July 11: Silchar Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (SC) Shri Parimal Suklabaidya called upon all government officials, people’s representatives, and field functionaries to “work as a team, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure timely, quality delivery of services to the people,” while chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the Conference Hall of the Cachar District Commissioner’s office here on thursday.

The meeting, convened to monitor and review the implementation of central and state government schemes in the district, saw active participation from MP Rajya Sabha Shri Kanad Purkayastha, MLA Silchar Shri Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA Udharbond Shri Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA Dholai Shri Nihar Ranjan Das, MLA Borkhola Shri Misbahul Islam Laskar, District Commissioner Shri Mridul Yadav, CEO Zilla Parishad Shri Pranab Kumar Bora, PRI and MC members, DISHA committee members, and officials from all key departments.
At the outset, MP Parimal Suklabaidya reviewed the Action Taken Report on decisions of the previous DISHA meeting and expressed satisfaction at the progress recorded so far. However, he exhorted officials to maintain momentum and address any pending issues without delay.
Focusing on infrastructure and connectivity, The MP stressed the need to expedite work under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to ensure that every unconnected habitation in the district gets linked with durable and quality road networks. He instructed PWD engineers to accelerate ongoing works across all Legislative Assembly Constituencies under Silchar Lok Sabha and to complete pending surveys in left-out areas at the earliest.
On the Jal Jeevan Mission, Shri Suklabaidya underlined the importance of achieving universal household access to safe and clean drinking water and maintaining quality in execution. Reviewing the healthcare scenario, he assessed staffing and equipment status in the District Hospital and other facilities, calling for better preparedness and uninterrupted service delivery.
He also took stock of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) progress in both rural and urban areas and urged officials to adhere to timelines so that all beneficiaries get their rightful homes.
In his address, MP, Parimal Suklabaidya praised the district administration for its efforts but reminded everyone of their responsibility: “Government schemes are meant to serve the people. Every rupee spent must translate into real benefits. Officials must utilise resources optimally, keep monitoring progress closely, and ensure no deserving citizen is left behind.”
Shri Suklabaidya, also asked the NHIDCL authorities to expedite the repair of roads damaged by the ongoing AMRUT pipeline ,Jal Jeevan Mission and PWD roads. Emphasizing the importance of timely action, he stressed the need to complete the repairs without further delay to restore smooth connectivity and ensure efficient delivery of public services to the people.
While speaking at the meeting, MP Rajya Sabha ,Shri Kanad Purkayastha lauded the overall pace of development in Cachar but called for greater emphasis on education  from Anganwadi centres to higher education institutions and on women and child welfare schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Nijut Moina. He also stressed transparency and accountability, urging officials to intensify outreach and awareness so that people fully understand and access the benefits they are entitled to.
MLA Silchar, Shri Dipayan Chakraborty echoed these views and appreciated the proactive approach of the administration. He urged officials to remove procedural delays, focus equally on urban and rural areas, and pay special attention to improving civic amenities in municipal wards. He also called on PRI and MC members to be vigilant at the grassroots and assist the administration in effective monitoring and implementation of projects.
Earlier, a detailed PowerPoint presentation was displayed showcasing achievements and ongoing works under key schemes such as MGNREGA, PMGSY, Amrit Sarovar, MPLADS, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and others. Progress of rural electrification, installation of smart meters, and development of roads in Udharbond, Sonai, Lakhipur, and Katigorah were also reviewed.
The meeting also took stock of the performance of Food and Civil Supplies, Forest, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Public Health Engineering, Agriculture, Sports, Irrigation, and Labour departments. Officials from various line departments and field-level staff provided updates and responded to queries raised by the MPs and MLAs.
In conclusion, Shri Suklabaidya urged all present to stay committed to the holistic development of the district, resolve any obstacles quickly, and maintain the highest standards of service delivery. He noted: “It is only through teamwork, sincerity, and a sense of duty that we can bring lasting development and ensure that every citizen benefits from the schemes designed for them.
