With 44 more Covid-19 +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 198 on 7 May; 4 deaths registered

Active cases 961 in Cachar

May 7: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Friday at 10 PM. As per the latest data, 44 more persons were detected as coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 198 persons were found positive in the district on 7 May. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 154 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has now gone up to 961. It needs mention here that the total number of positive cases detected on Thursday was 230.

As per the updated data, a total of 2,053 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 142 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 56 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Friday night. With this, the total number of Covid cases in 2021 reached 2,371 in 2021, whereas during the year, 1,407 patients were discharged.

Apart from This Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed informed that out of the 961 active patients:

  • 145 of them are admitted at SMCH
  • 11 in MH
  • 07 at SMDCH
  • 30 at Green Heals Pvt Hospital
  • 05 at CRPF Doyapur
  • 24 at Gracewell Nursing Home
  • 10 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
  • 729 patients are in home isolation.

In last 24 hours, 5 more Covid-19 infected patients died at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), out of which, 4 are from Cachar district and 01 from Karimganj. This is the highest single day spike in death of Covid patients in the district this year. This was stated by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Friday evening. The 04 deceased from Cachar were identified as:

  • Mridul Kanti Roy (50) from Second Link Road in Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 3 May. He lost his life at 9 PM on 6 May.
  • Suk Sagar Dutta (69) from Itkhola, Silchar took admission on 6 May. He died at 7 AM on 7 May, 2021.
  • Debi Kanungo (70) also from Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 6 May. She breathed last at 1.35 PM on 7 May, 2021.
  •  Prabash Chakraborty (82) from Ganganagar in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 3 May. He, however, died at 5.50 PM on & May, 2021.

As per protocol, the death details were  forwarded to the State Death Audit Board in Guwahati for final certification of Covid or non-Covid death.
