Seva Hi Samarpan: District Administration conducts 4th Mega Health Camp at Udharbond;

way2barak, October 14:  As part of the ongoing Seva Hi Samarpan Sewa Saptah initiative, the District Administration, Cachar, in collaboration with the Health Department, organised the 4th Mega Health Camp under Susrusha Setu at Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond, on Tuesday. The event drew a massive turnout, with 3,619 patients registered and 395 referred for advanced medical care reflecting the growing public trust in government-led healthcare interventions.

Mihir Kanti Shom, MLA, Udharbond attended the camp as Chief Guest with the presence of several dignitaries, including Guest of honour District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav, Assistant Commissioners Junali Devi, and Phunlalngir Chorei, Dr. Shibananda Roy, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. A. P. Goala, SDM&HO, Udharbond, and Rahul Ghosh, DPM, NHM Cachar.

 

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, MLA Mihir Kanti Shom expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for launching a visionary health initiative that enables all children to be screened for 59 different diseases. “This initiative underlines the government’s unwavering commitment to preventive healthcare and early detection, which are crucial for building a healthier Assam,” he said.

 

He extended his thanks to the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Police Department, and all associated departments for their coordinated efforts in making the camp a grand success. The MLA also appreciated the significant contribution of PRI members, who played a key role in mobilising identified children and assisting in the camp’s smooth organisation. “The spirit of Seva Hi Samarpan lies in this collaborative effort, where administration, health officials, and local representatives work hand in hand for the welfare of the people,” he added.

 

While speaking at the event, District Commissioner Mridul Yadav congratulated the Health Department for successfully conducting a large-scale health camp that truly embodied the spirit of Seva Hi Samarpan. He commended the dedicated efforts of the medical teams, support staff, and administrative officials who worked tirelessly to extend quality healthcare to thousands of beneficiaries.

“The Cachar District Administration stands fully committed to the cause of public health and will continue to support all such health melas to ensure that the objectives of Susrusha Setu are fully realised,” the DC said.

 The DC also emphasised that such outreach programmes strengthen the government’s mission to bring healthcare services directly to people’s doorsteps, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

 

Earlier, Dr. Shibananda Roy, Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, delivered the welcome address and outlined the noble purpose behind the Seva Hi Samarpan Sewa Saptah initiative, which commemorates the birthday of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He highlighted the commitment of the Government of Assam, under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, to ensure that quality healthcare reaches the last person in society.

 

Dr. Roy also informed that under the upcoming phases of Susrusha Setu, patients referred from the camps will receive advanced treatment at higher medical centres, ensuring continuity and accessibility of healthcare. He commended the synergy between the Health Department and the District Administration, which made the Udharbond camp a shining example of successful public service delivery.

 

The mega health camp at Jagannath Singh College witnessed multiple healthcare services, including general consultations, maternal and child care, diagnostic testing, and awareness sessions on non-communicable diseases. The strong turnout and active community participation reflected the people’s growing confidence in the government’s healthcare initiatives.
