Public holiday declared in Silchar on October 3 for Municipal Corporation poll

way2barak, September 27:— The Governor of Assam has been pleased to declare October 3, 2026 Saturday as a public holiday within the jurisdiction of the Silchar Municipal Corporation on account of the poll for the Silchar Municipal Corporation Election.

As per a notification issued in this regard, all State Government offices and educational institutions located within the Silchar Municipal Corporation area shall remain closed on October 3 on account of the public holiday.

The notification further states that all financial institutions within the Silchar Municipal Corporation area shall also remain closed on the day in accordance with Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 as applicable under the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs.
