Pranabananda Vidyamandir, Lumding celebrates 80th Independence Day

Lumding, August 15 : Pranabananda Vidyamandir, Lumding, in collaboration with Sanskar Bharati, Hojai, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India along with the sesquicentennial anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ with profound reverence and patriotic zeal on August 15.

The event commenced on the school premises with the ceremonial unfurling of the tricolour by Principal Shekhar Chakraborty, attended by dignitaries from Bharat Sevashram Sangha. Following the flag hoisting, the gathering joined in singing the national anthem, after which a chorus of 150 students and members of Sanskar Bharati presented a joint rendition of the complete Vande Mataram.

The formal proceedings were hosted by Rudra Gogoi and Arpita Nath. In his address to the gathering, Principal Chakraborty reflected on the history of India’s independence movement, underscored the cultural resonance of the national song, and emphasized the role of students in national development.

A cultural programme coordinated by Partha Pratim Das followed the official ceremony. Students from various grade levels presented a series of performances, beginning with a solo dance by Taniya Das of Class IX-A to the tune of Biswa Bijoyee Naujawan. The youngest pupils, representing Nursery, LKG, and UKG—including Joysmita Das, Hritvi Dey, Kritika Bhowmick, Rithish Das, Gounika Talukdar, Debosmita Das, Vedanshi Dutta, and Aahilan Bhattacharjee—delivered speeches and recitations. Group dance performances were staged by children from LKG, Class I, and Class II.

The cultural schedule also featured a poetry recitation by Neelrudra Choudhury of Class II, a duet dance by Amartya Paul of Class VIII and Aaditri Paul of Class III, alongside vocal patriotic solos performed by Rankith Acharjee of Class VI and Chirasmita Dhar of Class XI.

The event concluded with an official vote of thanks delivered to the guests, faculty, parents, and participating students, accompanied by the chanting of national slogans.
