Parimal Suklabaidya visits Assam-Mizoram border, interacts with people & cops

Oct. 30: Minister for Environment and Forest, Parimal Suklabaidya visited the areas of Tulartal, Baghewala, Singua and Lailapur along the Assam-Mizoram inter state border on Thursday to allay the fears of local people being terrorised by Mizo miscreants and to reassure them that the state government is with them. The Minister urged the local people not to panic unnecessarily and said that the government is making all out efforts to resolve the Assam-Mizoram border dispute.

Suklabaidya discussed the current situation over telephone with the higher ups of the police administration. On the same day, he visited the newly set up Border Outpost in the Singua area and spoke to the police personnel on duty and inquired about their problems. He also visited the local Lailapur Police Outpost and spoke to the police officials and prominent citizens.

After that, he also inspected the new border outposts (BOP) that have been set up in the Singua. He also assured setting up two more BOPs in the areas of Tulartol & Baghewala as desired by the locals. During the  visit, he also spoke with the cops deployed in the BOP & local police stations & directed them to be vigilant in preventing any new incidents of violence.

The Minister was accompanied by Dholai Madhya Zila Parishad member Shashank Chandra Pal, Dholai Gaon Panchayat President Bhushan Pal, BJP Narsinghpur Mandal General Secretary, Kamlesh Das, Sheoratal Gaon Panchayat President, Sunendra Chandra Barmanche, Ajay Kumar Das and others.

The Minister also informed the locals that he is in constant touch with the senior police officials regarding the line of incidents and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured of all possible support for the safety & security of the people of the region.
