Notices served on 33 candidates for non-submission of expenditure Register in Cachar

March 25: Returning Officers of concerned LAC have issued notices to 33 contesting candidates of seven constituencies of Cachar for non-submission of election expense account on notified date and discrepancy in submission of election expenditure on first notified date on 22 March, 2021.

The Candidates who have not submitted the election expense account under LAC Silchar are Raju Sinha of (Hindustan Nirman Dal), Boktar Uddin Majumder – Independent, Anup Dutta- Independent, Rushna Begum Laskar- Independent, Bishoy Chamak Goswami of Bharatiya Gana Parishad, Prasanta Laskar of Republic Party of India.

Under LAC Sonai, the following candidates have not yet submitted the election expense account: Sayal Ahmed Barbhuiya- Independent, Bijan Paul- Independent, Ashis Halder- Independent, Anwar Hussain Laskar of Samajwadi Party.

Under Dholai constituency the candidates who have not submitted the election expense account are Parimal Shuklabaidya of BJP and Kamakhya Prasad Mala of INC.

Under Udharbandh constituency, the following candidates have not yet submitted the election expense account: Debojyoti Bhattacharjee- Independent, Subrata Mazumdar- Independent, Rahul Roy- Independent, Mihir Kanti Shome of BJP and Ainul Howie Laskar of AJP.

Under Lakhipur constituency, the candidates who have not submitted the election expense account are Thoiba Singha- Independent, Alim Uddin Mazumder of AJP, Khirod Karmakar- Independent, Chiranjit Acharjee-  Independent, Kaushik Rai of BJP and Mukesh Pandey of INC.

Under Borkhola constituency, the following candidates have not yet submitted the election expense account: Misbahul Islam Laskar of INC, Hifzur Rahman Laskar- Independent and Nazmul Haque Laskar- Independent.

Under Katigorah constituency, the candidates who failed to submit expenditure register are Junaid Ahmed Barbhuiya- Independent, Abdul Adult Chowdhury- Independent, Gautam Roy of BJP, Mansur Hasan Chowdhury –  Independent, Khalil Uddin Mazumder of INC, Nasir Uddin Barbhuiya- Independent, GMC Sahab Uddin Ahmed – Independent.

Issuing notices to 33 contesting candidates, the Returning officer for Silchar LAC, Keerthi Jalli, Returning officer for Sonai LAC, Eldad L. Faihrem, Returning officer for Dholai constituency, Dr Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Returning officer of Udharbandh, Sumit Sattawan, Returning officer for Lakhipur, Dipak Jidung , Returning Officer for Borkhola Lolita Rongpipi and Returning officer for Katigorah, Bhupesh Chandra Das said that inspite of written communication made by them, the candidates failed to produce the expenditure Register with relevant documents for inspection on the notified date and time.

The returning officers of the concerned constituencies directed the candidates to comply within 48 hours under Section 77 of representation of People’s act 1951 and cautioned that legal proceedings under section 171-I of IPC will be taken against them, if they fail to produce the expenditure Register before the concerned authorities.
Moreover, the notices served on the candidates stated that all sorts of permission which include security, vehicles etc will be withdrawn which are provided to them during election process, if they fail to produce expenditure Registers and the discrepancies charged against them within the stipulated time frame.
