Many new parts of Silchar sealed after 2 tested positiveনয়া সংক্রমণ রুখতে শিলচরে সিল আরও এলাকা
May 18: Once again two persons were tested positive in Cachar district on Monday late evening. One of them, a 18-year old boy came from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. He is originally a resident of Akbarpur in Karimganj district, but was quarantined in Cachar. The other positive case is a 20-years old youth, who came from West Bengal. He is learnt to be a resident of Kajidohar in Cachar district. He was also kept in a quarantine centre at Silchar. In two separate orders issued by District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli on 18 May, it was stated that, to contain the further spread of the virus, the area surrounding the facility wherein they were kept under quarantine would be sealed immediately.
The 18-year-old boy who originally hails from Karimganj was kept in a quarantine centre in Silchar town. As such, the area surrounding City Lodge, Silchar (Quarantine Centre) was sealed. Further, the area inside the following geographical boundaries was immediately sealed:
- North: New Market East
- East: Musaddar Ali Super Market
- South: Old Lakhipur Road
- West: Chakraborty Stores, Bharati Sweets, Fruits Shops.
Again, another 20-years-old youth, a resident of Kajidahar, Part-II, Sonai in Cachar district was also detected COVID-19 positive in a quarantine facility. In order to contain further spread of the virus the area surrounding Veterinary Campus Ghungoor, Silchar (Quarantine Centre) was sealed. Further, the area inside the following geographical boundaries was immediately sealed:
- North: Veterinary Principal and lecturer quarter
- East: Kanch Hostel Ghungoor
- South: Grade IV Staff quarter
- West: School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry
To implement the above instructions, following restrictions were also imposed in the geographical area mentioned above:
- Clear entry and exit points are to be established.
- No unauthorised entry and exit of the residents in the contained area will be allowed.
- Vehicular movement is to be strictly prohibited.
- No movement is to be allowed except for medical emergencies, essential goods and services.
- No unchecked influx of population is to be allowed
- People transiting are to be recorded and followed through IDSP.
- Stricter enforcement of all statutory directions regarding social distancing.
District Magistrate Keerthi Jalli stated that the orders are issued under the Regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and shall be effective from 09.00 PM of 18 May, 2020 until further orders.
