Narayan Sai, son of controversial Asaram Bapu convicted for rape

April 26: Self-styled ‘godman’ and rape convict Asaram Bapu is again in the news. Asaram’s son Narayan Sai was convicted on Friday by a Gujarat court on charges of rape. The sessions court in Surat will pronounce the sentence in the case on April 30.

In 2013, a Surat-based woman lodged a complaint wherein she accused Narayan Sai of raping her in between 2002 and 2005. The victim was a disciple of Narayan’s father Asaram Bapu. In her complaint, the lady accused Narayan Sai of repeated sexual assault when she was living at Asaram’s ashram in Surat.

On the basis of the complaint, Narayan Sai was arrested in 2013 from Harayana’s Pipli. Meanwhile, Narayan’s father Asaram is already serving a life term as he was convicted in another rape case.
