India’s daily Covid tally cases cross 1-lakh mark, Omicron tally goes upto 3007

Jan. 7: India has registered 1,17,100 new cases in the last 24 hours, 28.8% higher than the previous day, Union health ministry data on Friday showed. It brought the total caseload to 3,52,26,386. With 302 patients dying due to related complications, the death toll touched 4,83,178. As many as 30,836 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,43,71,845. With this, the recovery rate touched 97.57 per cent.

The country’s count of the highly transmissible Omicron crossed the 3,000-mark and reached 3,007 with 1,199 patients having been cured as well. The fast-spreading strain is now present in 27 states. Maharashtra has the highest Omicron count with 876 cases, followed by Delhi with 465 cases. Karnataka recorded 333 cases, Rajasthan at 291 and Kerala at 284.
