3 more deaths registered at SMCH on Tuesday

Oct. 6: Since the last few days, no deaths due to COVID-19 were registered at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). However, on 6 October, three patients of COVID-19 breathed their last at SMCH. All the three deceased are from Cachar district. Out of the three, the State Death Audit Board certified only one as ‘Covid-Death.” Although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be ruled out that all of them were infected with coronavirus. Those COVID positive persons who die due to comorbidities are usually not certified as ‘Covid-19’ death by the State Death Audit Board.

On Tuesday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that during the day, the Valley witnessed 03 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). The 3 persons died within a span of around 4 hours on Tuesday morning. The 3 deceased were identified as:

  • Samiran Dey Sarkar (55) from Joypur in Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 25 September. He, however, died at 7.05 AM on 6 October. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
  • Sarif Uddin Majumder (73) from Subhas Nagar was admitted at SMCH on 3 October. He breathed his last at 11 AM on 6 October. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
  • Tapan Nath (52) from Nagdirgram in Kabuganj was admitted at SMCH on 2 October. He succumbed to the infection 7.15 AM on 6 October. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
