Heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh triggers flash floods

way2barak, July 14: Severe flash floods triggered by incessant monsoon rainfall have caused extensive damage to public infrastructure in the remote border town of Parsi Parlo in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district.
The floods washed away a church, damaged schools and government buildings, and destroyed bridges.
The floods also severed the only road link connecting Parsi Parlo to the district headquarters, leaving the remote border town cut off.
Officials said continuous overnight rain caused the Parsi Parlo River and the Kumey River to swell rapidly, inundating large parts of the town during the early hours.
The surging floodwaters damaged several public and private structures, with schools, government offices and residential buildings among the worst affected.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, though officials said the damage assessment is still underway as several affected areas remain inaccessible due to washed-out roads and collapsed bridges.
