Minister Suklabaidya supervises intensified vaccination drive in Hailakandi & Karimganj districts

June 21: Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise cum Guardian Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya supervised the intensified vaccination drive in Hailakandi and Karimganj districts on Monday. Suklabaidya asked the Deputy Commissioners of Hailakandi and Karimganj districts to step up vaccination drive and to open new centres to ensure maximum number of people are vaccinated during the three-day vaccination drive beginning Monday.

No description available.The Minister asked the authorities to pull out all the stops to ensure the intensified vaccination drive is smooth and successful. “All out efforts must be made by the district administrations to ensure the intensified vaccination drive is smooth and successful covering the maximum number of people. It is only through intensified vaccination drive, we can arrest further spread of the disease,” he quipped. Suklabaidya took stock of the COVID-19 situation of Hailakandi and Karimganj districts with Deputy Commissioners, SPs, DDCs, ADCs, health functionaries and other stakeholders at the Circuit House.

The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Minister about the latest situation and the steps undertaken by the administrations to contain the disease through RAT/RT-PCR testing, isolation and vaccination. Suklabaidya appreciated the efforts made by the districts administrations to prevent spread of the disease to newer areas and to keep the infection rate under control.

In Hailakandi district, the administration has opened 58 COVID vaccination centres for the mega vaccination drive while 87 centres have been set up in Karimganj district. The Hailakandi administration has fixed a target of 8,400 vaccination per day against the State target of 7,000 per day while the Karimganj administration set a target of 12,860 per day against the State target of 10,000 per day.

Later, Minister Suklabaidya visited Harekrishna High School, SS College, Algapur High School and Panchgram Town High School vaccination centres in Hailakandi district, while in Karimganj district he visited the DIC, Karimganj High Madrassa to supervise the vaccination drive.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister, Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday requested all the ministers in the capacity of guardian ministers to station themselves in their respective allotted districts along with the guardian secretaries to closely supervise the three-day intensified vaccination drive.
