Grenade hurled at a truck in Karbi Anglong on the eve of Lok Sabha polls

April 17: An obscure insurgent organisation, Dimasa National Liberation Army (GNLA) has called for a 36-hour bandh in Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts starting from 5 pm on Wednesday. The Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency, which includes Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts, will go to polls in second phase on Thursday.

In the backdrop of such a situation, a a grenade was hurled at a 407 truck in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday by unknown miscreants at Bakalia under Bakalia police station at around 7:40 in the evening. The truck was parked on the National Highway 36 near the residence of the owner. The incident created panic among the people of the region. However, no casualties have been reported till the report is being filed.
