Green Heals Hospital starts RT-PCR testing lab for Covid-19 with same day report facility
Jan. 14: It’s another feather in the cap of Green Heals Hospital, Silchar. At a time, when Covid-19 is spreading at a very fast pace in Barak Valley along with the rest of the country, the importance of getting tested is emphasised by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) as a pivotal step. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the main mantra in dealing with Covid-19 lies in “Test, Treat & Cure.” With this aim in view, Green Heals Hospital, Silchar which already started Covid treatment facility in 2000, has now come up with RT-PCR testing for Covid-19.
On Friday, the RT-PCR testing lab was inaugurated by Swami Ganadishananda Maharaj, the chief of Silchar Ramakrishna Mission and renowned physician Dr Giridhari Kar in the presence of Rudra Narayan Gupta and others. It needs mention here that this is the 1st National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accredited Molecular Testing Centre in Barak Valley for using SARS CoV-2.
Informing this, Rudra Narayan Gupta, on behalf of Green Heals Hospital informed that after NABL accreditation, they also received the approval from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), following which, the state-of-the-art Molecular Testing Centre for RT-PCR was started on 14 January, 2022, on the day of Makar Sankranti. Mr Gupta further informed that they will deliver the RT-PCR test report the same day. Elaborating on this, he said, “Those whose samples will be collected by 2 PM will get their test reports by 6 PM and for samples received after 2 PM, the report will be ready by around 10 to 11 PM.” There will be facilities of collection of swab samples from home. “For home collection of Covid RT-PCR sample, one can call our helpline 6900854997,” added Mr Gupta.
It needs mention here that, Green Heals Hospital started treatment of Covid patients on 17 August, 2020. Since then, they have been running the facility continuously till now. Rudra Narayan Gupta informed that the hospital has also added much to the infrastructure required for the treatment of Covid patients like addition of more non-invasive ventilators etc. “As we are having a functional Covid centre at Green Heals, we will even be able to provide guidance to those who would test RT-PCR positive as per the sample tested in our lab. This will definitely help those patients who after getting their test report want immediate telephonic advice, said Mr Gupta.
