Goel reviews counting preparedness in Silchar

way2barak, April 30:– In a significant step towards ensuring a smooth and hassle free counting process for the Assam Legislative Assembly elections, the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, Anurag Goel, IAS visited Cachar district on Thursday and took stock of the overall preparedness ahead of the vote counting scheduled on May 4.
During his visit, the Chief Electoral Officer carried out an inspection of the strong room established at ISTT, Ramnagar in Silchar, where Electronic Voting Machines have been securely kept. He also reviewed the robustness of security arrangements and adherence to established protocols to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
The inspection was conducted in presence of the District Commissioner and District Election Officer, Aayush Garg, IAS along with the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sanjib Kumar Saikia. The CEO closely examined the arrangements for the counting hall including access control, movement regulation and coordination among various agencies.
Meanwhile discussions also held on key operational aspects related to the counting exercise.
Senior district officials, including District Development Commissioner Rajib Roy and Election Officer Masi Topno were present during the inspection alongside officials from the police and central forces.
