Educational institutions to reopen after 15 August: HRD Minister

June 7: In an interview with a news channel, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal indicated that all educational institutions will reopen across India after August 2020. Universities and schools across the country have been closed since 16 March, when the Centre announced a countrywide classroom shutdown as part of a slew of measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

Speaking in that interview, Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal said that, “We are trying to get declared all the results from the examinations this session by August 15. This means those exams which have already taken place before and those which are taking place now.” The minister also hinted that classes in schools and colleges will be started in a phase manner.
