Drastic fall in COVID-19 cases in Cachar, only 46 tests +ve on Thursday

3 more persons from Cachar died at SMCH in last 24 hours

Sept. 17: On Thursday, the novel coronavirus cases came down drastically in Cachar district. A total of 46 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 861 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 41 were found positive, whereas only 05 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thurssday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7,981 till now. It needs mention here that 82 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, 252 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 582 persons were collected. 600 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 12 of them tested positive. Further, 122 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.

Apart from this, 16 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 11 were discharged. At present, there are 140 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 01 in ventilation. 26 patients are now in critical condition. Another 43 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 129 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 242 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 03 persons have died at SMCH due to COVID-19. All the 3 deceased are from Cachar district. As of now, there were 138 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 138deaths, 57 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
