ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৫ অক্টোবর : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্পোর্টস কমপ্লেক্সে শনিবার উদ্বোধন করা হল এক অত্যাধুনিক ক্রিকেট বোলিং মেশিনের। উদ্বোধন করেন জামিয়া মিলিয়া ইসলামিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক মাজহার আসিফ ও দক্ষিণ বিহার কেন্দ্রীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক কামেশ্বর নাথ সিং। উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্পোর্টস বোর্ডের ভারপ্রাপ্ত ডিরেক্টর ড. লালজো এস থাংজম, কলেজ ডেভেলপমেন্ট কাউন্সিলের ডিরেক্টর জয়ন্ত ভট্টাচার্য, আইকিউএসি’র ডিরেক্টর অধ্যাপক পীয়ুষ পাণ্ডে সহ বিভিন্ন বিভাগের অধ্যাপক-অধ্যাপিকা, শিক্ষাকর্মী ও ছাত্র-গবেষকরা।

বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে দুই উপাচার্যই ক্রীড়া ক্ষেত্রে পড়ুয়াদের প্রশিক্ষণের সুযোগ-সুবিধা জোরদার করার ক্ষেত্রে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সক্রিয় ও প্রগতিশীল উদ্যোগের ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন। উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থের দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্বে শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি খেলাধুলার জগতেও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উল্লেখযোগ্য অগ্রগতির কথা শুনে উভয়েই সন্তোষ প্রকাশ করেন।

বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে স্পোর্টস বোর্ডের ভারপ্রাপ্ত ডিরেক্টর ড. থাংজম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ক্রীড়াঙ্গনকে ঢেলে সাজাতে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থের দূরদর্শী পদক্ষেপের কথা উল্লেখ করেন। এই দৃঢ় অঙ্গীকার ক্যাম্পাসে স্বাস্থ্যকর ও গতিশীল পরিবেশ লালনে সহায়ক ভূমিকা পালন করেছে। তিনি এই উন্নত প্রশিক্ষণ সুবিধা চালু করার ক্ষেত্রে ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং সেল এবং স্পোর্টস বোর্ডের নিরলস প্রচেষ্টা ও সমন্বয়ের কথা উল্লেখ করে আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন।

প্রসঙ্গত, নতুন এই ক্রিকেট বোলিং মেশিনটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ক্রীড়া পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের ক্ষেত্রে এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক। উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষী ক্রিকেটারদের ধারাবাহিক, প্রযুক্তিগত ও কর্মক্ষমতা বাড়াতে উপযুক্ত অনুশীলন সেশন প্রদানের মাধ্যমে প্রশিক্ষণের মান উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে উন্নত করবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে। এই নতুন মেশিন পেয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যেও ব্যাপক উৎসাহ দেখা যাচ্ছে।

Way2barak, 25 October : Assam University, Silchar marked a significant milestone in upgrading its sports infrastructure with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Cricket Bowling Machine at the University Sports Complex. The ceremony was graced by Prof. Majhar Asif, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia University and Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of South Bihar, who appreciated the proactive and progressive initiatives of the university in strengthening training facilities for student-athletes.

In his address, Dr. Lalzo S. Thangjom, Director (i/c), Assam University Sports Board, placed special emphasis on the visionary support and encouragement of Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, whose steadfast commitment to promoting a robust sports culture has been instrumental in nurturing a healthier and more dynamic sporting environment on campus.

He further expressed sincere appreciation for the Engineering Cell and the Sports Board for their untiring efforts and flawless coordination in commissioning the advanced training facility. He noted that the successful installation of the machine stands as a testimony to teamwork, dedication, and the collective resolve to enhance student opportunities.

Also present at the occasion were Prof. Piyush Pandey, Director, IQAC; Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Director, CDC; along with several esteemed dignitaries, faculty representatives and members of the campus community. The newly installed cricket bowling machine is expected to significantly elevate cricket training standards by offering consistent, technology-driven and performance-enhancing practice sessions to aspiring cricketers.

Both Vice-Chancellors commended the Vice-Chancellor of Assam University for his visionary leadership and continued commitment to promoting sports excellence and expanding athletic opportunities for students. The program concluded with a live demonstration of the machine, which generated great enthusiasm among students, marking this initiative as a progressive step toward a more vibrant culture of physical fitness and youth empowerment across the campus.
