Corona: All bars, beauty parlours, saloons to remain closed in Assam till further notice

March 18: The number of coronavirus cases globally topped 200,000 Wednesday. India is currently positioned in stage 2 of coronavirus outbreak as confirmed cases rise to 137. It is in this backdrop that Government of Assam has issued a fresh advisory on Wednesday in order to stay protected.

The advisory issued on Wednesday, stated that in view of the worldwide outspread of COVID-19, social distancing has became a must. It is in this context that the notification directed that all liquor bars (country bar), beauty parlours and saloons in the state of Assam should be immediately closed as a precautionary measure for effective prevention of the virus. The bars, beauty parlours and saloons shall remain closed in all the districts of Assam till further notice.

The letter was issued to the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of Assam. Further, the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Excise Department was requested to issue necessary instruction regarding closure of liquor bars in the state.
