Locals allege band of robbers in 3 boats try to enter flood affected areas at Madhurbond & Bilpar

June 22: At around 1.30 AM on Wednesday, locals at Madhurband area of Silchar alleged that a gang of robbers were seen to roam around in three boats in the dark of the night. Taking to Facebook live, an inhabitant of Madhurband area alleged that he & his family members saw 3 boats. On two boats there were around 10 persons with spears and other weapons. On the 3rd boat, a scooty and bike could be seen. . Locals doubted that the two-wheelers could have been stolen by them taking advantage of flood and darkness. They tried to contact the police, but due to network issues.

Meanwhile, on the same night, taking to her Facebook wall, one Nabamita Bhattacharjee wrote, “Toninght at around 2.30, a gang of robbers tried to enter our house at Bilpar in Silchar. Being scared we tried to inform.the police. But as usual we too failed to reach out due to network issues.

These incidents has led to the issue of safety and security of the flood affected people. Many has demanded that at nigh security needs to be strengtheded.
