Assam University Diphu Campus Extends Relief to Flood-Devastated Villages in Sivasagar

way2barak, Aug 7: Demonstrating solidarity with communities grappling with natural calamities, a high-level delegation from Assam University, Diphu Campus (AUDC) visited the flood-ravaged villages of Lebang Gaon and Bha-Dhara Gaon in the Kheluwa Panchayat of Sivasagar district on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

Led by Prof. Sivasish Biswas, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AUDC, the relief team comprised a cross-section of the university community that included Dr. R.H. Begum, HoD, Life Science and Bioinformatics & Deputy Proctor, Dr. Robindra Teron, Deputy DSW, Prof. Sheetanshu Kumar, HoD, Hindi, Dr. Hiramanna Das & Dr. Prafulla Nath, NSS Coordinators, Student Union Leaders and Research Scholars.

The region was recently hit by sudden and severe flooding, displacing families and disrupting daily life. To aid recovery efforts, the AUDC team brought crucial supplies, monetary assistance, and medical essentials to the affected residents.

The relief initiative was made possible through donations pooled together by AUDC faculty members, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students.

The distributed items included:

i. Financial Aid: Monetary relief provided directly to affected families.

ii. Educational Supplies: Books and stationery items distributed specifically for children to help resume their studies.

iii. Health and Survival Essentials: Emergency medicines sourced from the Government Health Department, alongside packaged drinking water and essential food items.
