বন তারাপুরে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আতিথেয়তা ও পর্যটন ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের জনসম্পর্ক অভিযান

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৯ জুলাই : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আতিথেয়তা ও পর্যটন ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের উদ্যোগে কাছাড় জেলার বন তারাপুরে একটি জনসম্পর্ক কর্মসূচি আয়োজিত হয়। ব্যক্তিগত স্বাস্থ্যবিধি, আতিথেয়তা, পর্যটন উন্নয়ন, স্থানীয় সংস্কৃতির সংরক্ষণ এবং টেকসই গ্রামীণ উন্নয়ন সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যেই এই কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়।বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক সঞ্জীব কুমার সাক্সেনার নেতৃত্বে আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচিতে অংশ নেন অধ্যাপক এস এন বিশ্বাস, ড. প্রদীপ কুমার, ড. প্রণবেশ চক্রবর্তী সহ বিভাগের গবেষকরা।

কর্মসূচিতে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের পরিচ্ছন্নতা, স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পরিবেশ বজায় রাখা, দায়িত্বশীল নাগরিক আচরণ এবং পর্যটকদের আন্তরিকভাবে স্বাগত জানানোর শিষ্টাচার সম্পর্কে অবহিত করা হয়। পাশাপাশি পর্যটন শিল্পের মাধ্যমে কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি, ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসার প্রসার, স্থানীয় সংস্কৃতির বিকাশ এবং গ্রামীণ অর্থনীতিকে শক্তিশালী করার সম্ভাবনার বিষয়েও আলোচনা করা হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানের অংশ হিসেবে বিভাগীয় প্রতিনিধিদল স্থানীয় তাঁতি ও কারুশিল্পীদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় করে। তাঁতশিল্প ও হস্তনির্মিত পণ্যের সঙ্গে পর্যটনের সংযোগ স্থাপনের সম্ভাবনা তুলে ধরে তারা জানান, এই উদ্যোগ স্থানীয় কারিগরদের আয়ের নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করার পাশাপাশি ঐতিহ্যবাহী বয়নশিল্প ও সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে।

কর্মসূচিতে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা উৎসাহের সঙ্গে অংশগ্রহণ করেন এবং নিজেদের অভিজ্ঞতা ও মতামত তুলে ধরেন। পরে প্রতিনিধিদল বরাক মিউজিয়াম ও লাইব্রেরি পরিদর্শন করে। এ সময় বরাক উপত্যকার ইতিহাস, সাহিত্য ও সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণে প্রতিষ্ঠান দুটির গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকার ওপর আলোকপাত করা হয়। বক্তারা বলেন, শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান ও স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে দায়িত্বশীল পর্যটনের বিকাশ, হস্ততাঁত শিল্পের প্রসার এবং টেকসই গ্রামীণ উন্নয়নের পথ আরও সুদৃঢ় করা সম্ভব।

Way2barak, July 19 : The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Assam University, organised a community outreach programme at Bantarapur in Cachar district to promote awareness on personal hygiene, hospitality, tourism development, preservation of local culture, and sustainable rural development.
The programme was led by the Head of the Department, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena, and attended by Prof. S. N. Biswas, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Pranabesh Chakraborty, and research scholars of the department.

During the programme, local residents were sensitised about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and a clean environment, adopting responsible civic behaviour, and extending warm hospitality to visitors and tourists. The participants also discussed the potential of the tourism sector to generate employment, promote small businesses, preserve local traditions, and strengthen the rural economy.

As part of the outreach initiative, the departmental team interacted with local weavers and artisans. Highlighting the possibilities of linking handloom and handicraft products with tourism, they noted that such an initiative could create new livelihood opportunities for local craftsmen while helping preserve the region’s traditional weaving practices and cultural heritage.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who shared their experiences and views. The team later visited the Barak Museum and Library, where discussions focused on the institutions’ significant role in preserving the history, literature, and cultural heritage of the Barak Valley.

The speakers emphasised that stronger collaboration between educational institutions and local communities could play a vital role in promoting responsible tourism, strengthening the handloom sector, and achieving sustainable rural development.
