Assam registers 7 more COVID-19 deaths including 1 in Cachar, tally rises to 189

August 16: On Sunday, Assam registered 7 more COVID-19 deaths, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 189. Out of the seven deceased, one is from Cachar district. Ashutosh Dey (72) of Cachar lost his life due to COVID-19. The other six deceased were identified as Muhibuddin Ahmed (63) of Sibsagar; Hala Ramchiary (49) of Baksa; Dilip Bhagawati (53) of Darrang; Pradip Ram Singh Rajuwar (53) Bhupendra Gupta (32) of Dibrugarh; and Tarun Brahma (55) of Kokhrajhar. This was confirmed in a tweet by State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
